Welcome to Camp Encouragement

 Statement of Beliefs

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible in its entirety is the Word of God and is the infallible foundation of Truth. We believe that the Word of God is living and active and speaks to our hearts as we seek Him.
Matthew 24:35; John 17:17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21

The Trinity

We believe in one God, the creator and sustainer of all things, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe each person is equal in divine perfection and executes distinct, but harmonious functions of creation, providence, and redemption.
1 John 5:7; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 3:16-17

God the Father

We believe in one God, the Father, who is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. We believe He is merciful and perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe He sees, hears, and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death those who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:6; John 10:30; 1 John 5:14-15

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and manifested in the flesh. We believe He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for the atonement of our sins, was buried, rose again, ascended to Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.
Matthew 1:20-23; 1 Peter 2:22; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Matthew 28:6; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 12:2

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit shares all the attributes of the Father and Son. He works through conviction, regeneration, sanctification, and empowerment to transform believers for holy living and service in Christ’s mission of redeeming the lost.
John 14:16-18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 4:7-12

We further believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as distinct from the New Birth, with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit, and the continuing manifestation of God’s power through His people. These gifts include wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, and interpretation of tongues. We believe all these are active today for the building up of the Body of Christ.
Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Romans 12:4-8; 1 Peter 4:10-11

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is the gift of God, not earned by works, but received through repentance and belief in Jesus. Because of His finished work on the cross, we have direct access to the Father.
John 3:16; John 3:3; Romans 2:4; Ephesians 2:8-9

Baptism

We believe in two baptisms as revealed in Scripture:

  • Water Baptism: Following salvation, believers are commanded by Christ to be baptized by immersion in water as a public testimony of their faith and identification with His death, burial, and resurrection.
    Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; Matthew 28:19

  • Baptism of the Holy Ghost: This baptism is a distinct and empowering experience following conversion, with the evidence of speaking in new tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. Through this baptism, believers are filled with power to be witnesses and to demonstrate the works of Jesus Christ.
    Acts 1:5,8; Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6

The Signs of Believers

We believe that Jesus declared signs would follow those who believe. In His name, they will cast out demons, speak with new tongues, take up serpents, be protected from deadly things, and lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. We believe these signs are still for today and testify of God’s power through His people.
Mark 16:17-18

The Christian Walk

We believe that true conversion produces a new life in Christ. Believers are called to holiness, to walk in the Spirit, and to bear the fruit of the Spirit. A genuine Christian life is marked by love, obedience, and transformation.
Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:22-25; Matthew 7:15-20; 1 Peter 1:15-16

The Last Things

We believe in the blessed hope of Christ’s return. At His coming, the dead in Christ will rise first, and those who are alive and remain will be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air, to be with Him forever.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Matthew 24:30-31
